La Mirada is located in east Los Angeles County just 19 miles southeast of downtown, adjacent to the Orange County line. Its neighbors include Santa Fe Springs, Cerritos, Buena Park and La Habra. Within the city of La Mirada, the estimated 50,477 residents enjoy more than 10 schools in the Norwalk-La Mirada Unified School District, as well as a 240-acre county park with an 18-hole golf course, a public country club, swimming pool and children’s fishing lake. This gracious city’s community services operate eight other park facilities with year-round activities for all ages, including a system of bicycle and horse trails, lighted athletic fields, an 18-hole disc golf course, a sports stadium, a library, and a civic theatre which houses the symphony orchestra and community playhouse. Other attractions within the area include Disneyland, Knott’s Berry Farm, the Los Angeles Music Center, the Hollywood Bowl and the Los Angeles County Art Museum. Regional recreational areas include beach resorts just 17 miles south, and mountain resorts 70 miles to the east.
