Alta Loma is one of three formerly unincorporated areas that became part of the new City of Rancho Cucamonga in 1978. One of the more affluent areas in San Bernardino County, this picturesque community is located in the foothills of the south face of the San Gabriel Mountain range, near Cucamonga Peak and Mount Baldy. Alta Loma and the rest of Cucamonga was formerly home to old citrus groves and grape vineyards, so many homes have orange and lemon trees on their property. And several of the city’s many horse trails are lined with eucalyptus trees, which used to be windbreakers for the groves. With a population of approximately 44,000, this predominantly residential community boasts wonderful schools, parks and recreation all well within reach.
