Corned beef is a tasty salted-cured beef and a traditional Irish-American treat. Word has it the Irish immigrants brought it to the states in the 18th century, and ever since it’s been synonymous with the Irish holiday St. Patrick’s Day.
So if you’re ready to get into the St. Paddy’s day spirit this weekend then the best place to start is one of these four Orange County restaurants serving up some delicious corned beef creations. The restaurants aren’t necessarily Irish but they certainly know their way around this traditional dish!
Roscoe’s Famous Deli
Roscoe’s has four different delicious sandwiches with some thick authentic corned beef including the So Co Sandwich, Silly Billy, classic corned beef on rye and the Reuben “Castillo”.
What’s even better about Roscoe’s is that it’ not your average deli setting, it’s more like a bar which means a huge selection of great beers – perfect for getting your St. Patty’s day on.
Quinn’s Old Town Grill
If you’re going to lunch in Old Town Tustin and you’ve got a hankering for something Irish you’ve got to try the Award Winning Reuben at Quinn’s – it’s a house specialty. Or if you come in bright and early you need the Irish Benedict or old-fashioned corned beef hash.
The best time to come in for your Irish breakfast is St. Patrick’s Day, Quinn’s celebration is starting bright and early at 7am. There will be a Guinness and Harp Beer Truck, Krazy Kilt contest, lucky coin raffles and tons of festive food served all day long.
Mattern Sausage & Deli
The Irish aren’t the only ones who know how to serve up a delicious corned beef concoction. According to yelp you can’t beat the meats and corned beef sandwich at the German inspired eatery Mattern Sausage & Deli. Their grilled Rueben should be the main event if you make it out to their Orange location.
According to yelp it’s all that and more, “Reuben on rye! The bread was toasty with melted cheese, corned beef, and sauerkraut. The corned beef was really good. One of the best corned beef sandwiches I’ve had in my life. It’s soft, juicy, and it just melts in my mouth.”
If you really love it, browse the mini-market and bring some deli meets home to enjoy later!
Break of Dawn
Break of Dawn has a wide variety of non-traditional breakfast items and one of the best is the corned beef. The breakfast dish comes with sweet potatoes, poached eggs, tarragon cabbage and whole grain mustard.
Located in Laguna Beach, Break of Dawn is actually an Asian fusion restaurant. Check out owner Dee Nguyen’s amazing story and the rest of the menu, we think you’ll fall in love with it all.
